
M1 Sponsors Strikingly Powerful Photo Exhibit, Mugshots: A Celebration Of The Journey From Ruin To Redemption, At The ArcLight Cinerama Dome In Hollywood.
May 18, 2011 – Culver City, CA – The M1 Partnership announced today its sponsorship of Mugshots: A Celebration Of The Journey From Ruin To Redemption – a powerful and engaging photography exhibit by internationally known photographer Jonas Mohr at the famed ArcLight Cinerama Dome in Hollywood, which opens today and runs through July 19, 2011.
The exhibit is based on the 2008 award-winning book, Mug Shots: A Celebration Of The Journey From Ruin To Redemption, which was designed by M1 Partnership CEO/Creative Director Tom Moyer. The book combined Mr. Mohr’s striking black-and-white portraits with the real-life stories of ex-cons, recovering drug addicts and former gang members who turned their lives around. Among them are successful artists like actors Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts, writer Jerry Stahl and hip-hop artist Coolio.
Twenty-four riveting black-and-white photographs from the book are displayed as magnificant 16” x 20” C-prints encircling the foyer walls of the ArcLight Cinerama Dome. Viewers can read the personal and transformative stories from the individuals portrayed in the exhibit through accompanying excerpts from the book. The exhibit design and promotional materials were created pro bono by M1.
A review of the exhibit by The Oregonian extols, “Ruin to Redemption inspires through picture and story. The book and show are about rebirth – second or third acts – and the stories behind them. In the hands of new-age sentimentalists, this could have been preachy, fatty, afternoon talk-show material. But the creatives behind this project are made of sterner stuff.”
